The Thornleigh Station Upgrade was delivered as part of Transport for NSW’s Transport Access Program to make travel smoother and safer for all passengers. To achieve this, the project focused on providing step-free access while upgrading customer facilities within the constraints of an active rail corridor.
Works at Thornleigh included new vertical transport, upgraded station access points, platform modifications and improvements to lighting, security and wayfinding. Careful planning was required to coordinate construction activities alongside ongoing passenger use and existing site conditions.
In 2020, Tree Survey provided arboricultural input to support EMM Consulting’s project team during planning and construction.
Our involvement centred on accurately identifying and assessing trees affected by the upgrade works. This included undertaking a Tree Survey and Preliminary Tree Assessment, followed by an Arboricultural Impact Assessment to examine how proposed construction activities could interact with retained trees.
We also developed a precise Tree Protection Plan to set out tree management measures during site works.
All arboricultural assessments and documentation were completed within agreed timeframes and budget, allowing tree-related considerations to be resolved without delay to station upgrade works.
