The Sydney Road Asset Performance Program focuses on keeping key transport corridors safe, reliable and fit for purpose. This Transport for NSW initiative divides road maintenance activities across Greater Sydney into three work zones: the Harbour Zone, River Zone and Parkland Zone.

In 2024, Tree Survey was engaged by ConnectSydney to provide arboricultural services for works within the Harbour Zone, a 971 km road network stretching from the City of Sydney to the northern and southern beaches.

This area includes busy arterial roads, public transport routes and established streetscapes, where road performance and tree canopy management need to be carefully balanced.

To start, our team completed a Tree Survey and GIS Analysis to support data-driven planning, proactive vegetation control, and tree preservation within this heavily used corridor.

A Preliminary Tree Assessment was then undertaken to record tree health, structure and condition, followed by an Arboricultural Impact Assessment to review how planned works may affect existing vegetation.

Additionally, we prepared a tailored Tree Protection Plan to set out site-specific measures for managing retained trees during delivery.

These services were completed on time and within budget. In turn, project teams received clear arboricultural insights, precise tree mapping and practical canopy management guidance to support efficient road maintenance in a complex urban environment.
