Sefton Park and Cooks River Channel Renewal

Led by Sydney Water, the project focuses on renewing ageing channel infrastructure within a highly developed urban catchment. The works aim to improve hydraulic performance, reduce flood risk in vulnerable areas, and limit the movement of sediment and pollutants into the Georges River system.

Stormwater from surrounding roads, roofs, and hard surfaces is conveyed through a network of pipes and channels, requiring coordinated upgrades within an active parkland and drainage corridor.

In 2023, Tree Survey was engaged to support project planning with specialist arboricultural input.

We developed a comprehensive record of site vegetation through a Tree Survey and Preliminary Tree Assessment, capturing accurate tree positions, condition, and structure.

These insights informed an Arboricultural Impact Assessment that examined where proposed works would interact with existing trees and where these interactions would shape design decisions.

Finally, a project-specific Tree Protection Plan was devised to guide construction activities and manage tree-related risks on site.

Early identification of vegetation constraints enabled more precise planning within a constrained stormwater corridor, supporting efficient delivery. All services were completed on schedule and within budget.
