Royal Botanic Garden Transform Project

This redevelopment completely renovated the Botanic House restaurant and event spaces, rejuvenating visitor amenities while respecting the Garden’s heritage character and lush living plant collections.

Tree Survey was engaged in 2019 to provide specialist arboricultural support during the planning and construction phases. Given the Garden’s historic and ecological importance, retaining and protecting vegetation was a critical consideration throughout the project.

Our role involved accurately identifying, assessing, and managing trees within and surrounding the works area to ensure construction proceeded safely and in full alignment with the Garden’s environmental and heritage management standards.

Services included a detailed Tree Survey, Preliminary Tree Assessment, Arboricultural Impact Assessment, and Tree Protection Plan. These deliverables provided precise mapping, tree condition data, and site-specific protection measures — enabling project teams to undertake works with confidence within a highly sensitive and botanically valuable setting.

All arboricultural services were delivered on schedule, supporting the successful transformation of the Royal Botanic Garden’s hospitality precinct while preserving its distinctive landscape and mature tree canopy.
