The Normanhurst Station Upgrade transformed the station into a safer, more accessible travel hub for the Northern Line, improving connectivity for daily commuters and the wider community. This project was delivered under $2.2B Transport for NSW’s Transport Access Program, a state-wide investment focused on providing secure, modern, and convenient public transport infrastructure.
Upgrades included two new lifts for step-free platform access, improved accessibility to waiting rooms, and new family accessible and ambulant toilet facilities. Weather protection was enhanced through new canopies and lift entry screens, alongside expanded canopy coverage over Boarding Assistance Zones.
These features required careful integration of construction works within an established rail corridor and surrounding vegetation. Therefore, in 2020, lead contractor EMM Consulting engaged Tree Survey to provide comprehensive arboricultural support throughout planning and delivery.
Our services began with a detailed Tree Survey and Preliminary Tree Assessment to record tree health, structure and constraints across the site. This was followed by an Arboricultural Impact Assessment to assess construction interfaces and inform design decisions. Finally, we developed a tailored Tree Protection Plan to ensure retained trees were managed appropriately during rail works.
Working closely with EMM Consulting and Transport for NSW, our input supported design and approvals, environmental management throughout construction, and the smooth delivery of this complex rail upgrade.
