The HMAS Kuttabul Upgrade forms part of major infrastructure works at the Garden Island Defence Precinct, located between Woolloomooloo Bay and Elizabeth Bay on Sydney Harbour. HMAS Kuttabul sits at the heart of the precinct, overlooking Fleet Base East.

Works include upgrades to electrical, fuel, sewer, potable water and compressed air services that support Defence operations, alongside wharf remediation and associated asset improvements.

In 2025, lead contractor Aurecon Australasia engaged Tree Survey to support efficient project delivery with accurate arboricultural information.

Our team completed a detailed Tree Survey and GIS Analysis to establish precise tree locations and provide clear, accurate mapping of vegetation across the project zone.

A Preliminary Tree Assessment and Arboricultural Impact Assessment then provided reliable information on tree condition and the potential impacts of proposed works.

Lastly, we prepared a Tree Protection Plan to help preserve retained trees with practical protocols.

This precise and reliable documentation informed planning for this complex Defence upgrade, helping the project team manage existing trees alongside the delivery of critical infrastructure at HMAS Kuttabul. All services were completed on time and within budget.
