The Gungahlin Active Travel Project forms part of the ACT Government’s wider program to improve walking, cycling and road safety across the growing Gungahlin Town Centre.

A 2022 feasibility study identified 12 community path connections for potential improvement. Concept designs were developed for 11 of these routes, with two additional sites later added to the program. Proposed works include new and upgraded paths, priority crossings and intersection improvements to create safer, more connected active travel routes.

In 2024, Tree Survey was engaged by lead contractor GHD to provide specialist arboricultural support during project planning and design.

Our team completed a Tree Survey, GIS Analysis and Preliminary Tree Assessment to accurately locate and assess existing trees across the project area.

We then prepared an Arboricultural Impact Assessment and Tree Protection Plan to identify potential impacts and provide clear protection requirements for trees affected by the proposed works.

This detailed arboricultural information gave the project team accurate tree data, clear mapping and practical guidance to support informed design decisions across the active travel network. All reports were delivered on time and within budget.
