The $7.5 million Greenwich Point Wharf Upgrade was developed by Transport for NSW to improve accessibility, safety and passenger facilities at the busy Lower North Shore ferry stop.

Planned as part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, the project replaced the existing wharf arrangement with a new jetty, gangway and covered pontoon, supported by a passenger lift and stairs connecting the waterfront with Lower Serpentine Road. This design provides an accessible route for passengers with mobility needs while improving the overall ferry experience.

In 2021, Cardno engaged Tree Survey to assess how the proposed wharf works might interact with the site’s existing vegetation.

To start, we mapped the trees around the site and recorded their condition, form and likely constraints. This information was used to prepare a Preliminary Tree Assessment and Arboricultural Impact Assessment, identifying trees that could be retained and highlighting where construction activities required careful management.

A tailored Tree Protection Plan then translated those findings into practical safeguards for the construction phase.

Together, these assessments helped the project team deliver an accessible ferry connection efficiently alongside established waterfront vegetation. All services were completed on schedule and within budget.
