Stretching 201km from Sydney to Bathurst, the Great Western Highway is one of the region’s busiest arterial routes. Beginning just west of Railway Square in Sydney’s CBD, this state highway extends westward through suburbs including Ashfield, Parramatta and Penrith before climbing into the Blue Mountains.
The Mount Druitt section upgrade, delivered by Transport for NSW, aimed to reduce congestion, improve safety at key intersections and create smoother links between residential, commercial and industrial precincts.
In 2022, Tree Survey was commissioned to provide arboricultural expertise as part of the upgrade’s design and delivery.
Our team conducted an extensive Tree Survey and Preliminary Tree Assessment to capture the location, condition and structure of trees along the corridor — ensuring every vegetation asset was accurately documented before works commenced.
Insights from this data underpinned a detailed Arboricultural Impact Assessment and informed a site-specific Tree Protection Plan to guide safe construction practices around retained trees.
All services were completed on time and within budget, equipping Transport for NSW with the clarity and data needed to make confident construction decisions. Ultimately, our accurate mapping, detailed assessments and clear recommendations ensured vegetation risks were well understood and managed efficiently.
This informed a robust Arboricultural Impact Assessment and the development of a tailored Tree Protection Plan to manage retention and removals during construction.
All Tree Survey reports were completed on time and within budget. Through precise mapping, practical guidance and clear documentation, we supported Stantec and Liverpool City Council in delivering an efficient, future-focused road upgrade for the growing Austral community.
