Delivered by Sydney Water in partnership with Strathfield Council, this $10M project will replace ageing concrete riverbanks with natural solutions such as rock stabilisation and native planting. Water-sensitive design elements, such as rain gardens and wetlands, are also being explored, subject to site limitations.
These works intersect with existing vegetation along the river corridor, where trees sit within proposed construction and access zones. Therefore, in 2023, Tree Survey was engaged to support early planning with targeted arboricultural input.
To begin, we documented existing vegetation through a Tree Survey and Preliminary Tree Assessment, capturing accurate positions, condition, and structure across the site.
This formed the basis of an Arboricultural Impact Assessment, which tested how the proposed works and surrounding trees would affect each other.
Lastly, a tailored Tree Protection Plan was developed to guide site activities and manage tree-related considerations during delivery.
Ultimately, this process provided a clear framework for balancing infrastructure upgrades with the realities of working within an established reserve, supporting practical project delivery. All services were delivered within budget and on schedule.
