The Emu Plains Multi-Voltage Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a proposed energy storage facility at an existing transmission substation site in Emu Plains, NSW. It forms part of Ausconnex’s broader $65M eight-site BESS program across Greater Western Sydney, which aims to be completed by 2029.

Designed to provide up to 5 MW of power and store up to 10 MWh of energy, this facility will help support local electricity demand, grid reliability and the integration of renewable energy.

In 2025, Tree Survey was engaged by lead contractor Aurecon Australasia to provide specialist arboricultural services during project planning and assessment.

Our team completed a Tree Survey and GIS Analysis to establish precise tree locations and provide clear spatial mapping across the site.

A Preliminary Tree Assessment then documented existing tree condition, followed by an Arboricultural Impact Assessment to identify potential impacts from the proposed works. We also prepared a Tree Protection Plan to guide vegetation protection during future construction.

Ultimately, this coordinated assessment provided the project team with accurate arboricultural information to support planning, design and site management decisions. All services were completed on time and within budget.
