Located in Lane Cove, AirTrunk SYD2 is one of Australia’s largest hyperscale data centres. Its industrial‑grade power infrastructure—including a 132 kV substation—supports cloud, enterprise, and AI workloads across the Asia‑Pacific region.
Centering around sustainable innovation, SYD2 targets a highly efficient Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15 to reduce environmental impact.
In line with this commitment, lead contractor EMCK3 engaged Tree Survey to provide specialist arboricultural insights during the third phase of SYD2’s development, which added 30 MW of IT capacity to its campus.
Our professional services comprised a detailed Tree Survey and Preliminary Tree Assessment to establish existing vegetation conditions, followed by an Arboricultural Impact Assessment. Equipped with clear drawings and maps of the site’s vegetation, we then prepared a rigorous Tree Protection Plan for the 4.2 ha site.
This accurate and precise assessment of trees supported efficient large-scale infrastructure delivery. Overall, the $1B project was completed ahead of schedule, with SYD2 now providing a total capacity of 120 MW and reinforcing Sydney’s role as a major digital infrastructure hub.
