The Kingston Cycleway is a key active transport route through Canberra’s Inner South, forming part of the wider C2 City to Queanbeyan cycling connection. Delivered in three stages, the cycleway extends from Kings Avenue Bridge through Kingston to the Monaro Highway and Canberra Avenue underpass.

This project introduces safer, more direct cycling connections through the area, including protected cycle lanes, shared paths and links with Canberra’s existing active travel network.

In 2024, GHD engaged Tree Survey to provide specialist arboricultural services to inform planning and design along the cycleway corridor.

We completed a detailed Tree Survey, GIS Analysis and Preliminary Tree Assessment, providing clear mapping alongside reliable information on their condition and structure.

Our Arboricultural Impact Assessment then examined potential impacts from new paths, cycle lanes and associated infrastructure, helping inform design decisions around existing vegetation.

A Tree Protection Plan established practical measures to protect retained trees throughout construction.

All services were performed on schedule and within budget. Our precise professional insights supported GHD in delivering safer cycling infrastructure while managing existing trees along the corridor.
