The East Hills Station Upgrade formed part of Transport for NSW’s $2.2B Transport Access Program (TAP), a statewide initiative to improve station accessibility, safety, and commuter experience across the rail network.
Delivered by lead contractor Cardno, the project modernised East Hills Station to meet current accessibility standards and accommodate growing passenger demand along the T8 Airport & South Line. Works included the installation of new lifts, improved platform access, upgraded amenities, and reconfigured pedestrian pathways.
Tree Survey was engaged in 2020 to provide arboricultural consultancy during its design and construction. The upgrade occurred within a highly constrained urban rail corridor bordered by mature street trees and landscaped public spaces, demanding accurate vegetation data and careful coordination with site engineers.
Our scope included a comprehensive Tree Survey, Preliminary Tree Assessment, Arboricultural Impact Assessment, and Tree Protection Plan. These deliverables provided accurate tree locations, species identification, condition ratings, and site-specific protection measures to guide design and construction decisions.
All reports were delivered on time and to budget, helping the project team meet Transport for NSW’s environmental standards and make confident, data-backed decisions during the upgrade.
